Skiing
With snow that’s consistently ranked near the
top in both quality and quantity, Grand Targhee Resort offers
3,000 acres of terrain on two mountains. Its uncrowded runs and
knee-deep powder attract skiers from all over the country. 2,000
acres of lift-serviced skiable terrain with more than 1,000 acres
reserved for SnowCat Adventures make this a resort beyond compare.
In addition to its legendary powder, families love Grand Targhee’s “corduroy” grooming
and signature cruising runs. Fun terrain for all levels along
with a small-town feel and spectacular scenery make Targhee one
of the best “secret” destinations in the West.
Its
nickname is “The Big One” and its fame is worldwide.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is regarded as one of the greatest
ski areas in North America, and lays claim to having the largest
continuous vertical drop in the U.S. The resort features steep
terrain, deep powder and a vast backcountry. There are 22 miles
of groomed trails, the longest being a 7.2-mile traverse of mixed
terrain from the 10,450-foot summit of Rendezvous Mountain. 3,000
acres of unpatrolled backcountry terrain in the Bridger-Teton
National Forest and Grand Teton National Park were opened recently.
The ten lifts and gondolas serving the resort reveal over 2,500
acres of bowls, faces, chutes, glades and ridges – with
111 runs and just as many off-trail access points. Jackson recently
unveiled a huge base lodge expansion and retired its famous tram,
but it will be back – bigger and better – in winter
2009. |
